Callender Lake TX
Callender Lake is a 365-acre lake and 18 feet deep. It is in Murchison between Canton, Athens, and Tyler off Hwy 31, 773, and FM 2339 in Van Zandt County. It is considered a constant level lake fed by natural springs and streams. Callender Lake is a fishing and recreation lake, and large boats are not recommended. There are two gated communities—the Callender Lake and Hickory Hills, with different restrictions and requirements. Amenities include a community center, boat storage, boat launch, park, fishing pier, swim beach with picnic tables, and restrooms. This is a mandatory property owners’ association. Edom TX
Edom is located in Van Zandt county between State Hwy 31 East and Hwy 64. Edom is a fun little community to visit. Motorcycle enthusiasts love the winding roads thru the area. There are some cute artsy shops in the area. Several art festivals are held yearly. Blue Moon Gardens has some great landscaping and flowers. Visiting The Shed Café is a must (I hear their pies are to-die-for). We like to visit Blueberry Hill Farms for fresh blueberries. They have a store with all kinds of blueberry delicacies.
